Codleek: an online Markdown notes editor with shareable links

Codleek is a notes editor that runs in the browser. You write in Markdown, it saves on its own and you share it with a link. lizardbot designed and built it.

In short

Codleek is an online Markdown notes editor designed and built by lizardbot. It saves automatically, shares each note through a link or QR code, and offers in-browser encryption with your own key, password protection, self-destruct by views or time, version history, templates, tables, voice typing and export to Markdown, plain text, HTML or JSON.

The challenge: quick notes that can also stay private

Sharing a note usually means choosing between speed and control. Simple tools do not protect content, and full-featured ones ask for accounts and setup. Codleek was meant to open, write and share in seconds, with serious privacy options when you need them.

The solution: an online Markdown editor that controls what you share

We built an editor that saves automatically, shows word and character counts, and keeps a version history with named snapshots you can restore. Every note has its own link, copied in one tap or opened on another device with a QR code.

Privacy features

  • In-browser encryption with a key you generate or enter; per the site, the server never sees the text.
  • Password to open the note.
  • Ghost mode: the note deletes itself after a set number of views, minutes or idle minutes.
  • Change URL to move a note to a new address.
  • Log of recent visitors.

Writing and export tools

  • Templates, configurable tables and voice typing.
  • Focus mode and themes such as Light, Dark, Dracula, Monokai, Solarized and Nord.
  • Tags and folders for organization.
  • Export to Markdown, plain text, HTML or JSON, and save as an image.

Frequently asked questions

What did lizardbot build for Codleek?

We designed and built the web app: the Markdown editor with autosave and version history, the link and QR code sharing system, and privacy features such as in-browser encryption, password protection and self-destructing notes.

What does in-browser encryption mean for a note?

The text is encrypted on your device with a key before it is sent, so the server stores unreadable content. Only someone with the key can read it. If you lose the key, the note cannot be recovered.

Can you build an encrypted web app for my company?

Yes. We apply security by design: encryption, two-factor authentication, backups and testing during the security and QA stage. We define with you which data is protected and how, and you get the source code.
